Yes. AgVenture Travel experiences are designed for small groups of women who are curious about the world and interested in experiencing a destination beyond the usual tourist trail.
You don't need an agricultural background to join us. Our guests come from different backgrounds and life experiences, with a shared interest in travel, people, agriculture and learning something new along the way.
Travelling in a small group creates a relaxed and welcoming environment, particularly for women travelling on their own, while allowing us to enjoy experiences and local connections that can be difficult to access through traditional tourism.
-
AgVenture Travel combines the best parts of an adventure with genuine insight into agriculture, food production and rural communities.
Our small-group tours take you beyond the usual tourist trail. You might spend the morning meeting farmers and walking through their crops, visit a cooperative or innovative agricultural enterprise, and later enjoy a beautiful lodge, local restaurant or unforgettable wildlife experience.
The people and organisations we visit are an important part of the AgVenture Travel experience. We believe they should benefit from sharing their time, knowledge and stories with us, which is why funds from each tour are contributed directly to selected farmers, cooperatives and agricultural or community organisations along the way.
With small groups and strong local connections, our aim is to create genuine exchanges rather than simply observe from a distance.
-
Our first AgVenture Travel experiences are in Rwanda, a country with a remarkable agricultural story and one with which we have strong personal and professional connections.
Future destinations will be carefully selected for their agricultural interest, local relationships and the opportunity to offer experiences that go beyond traditional tourism.
Where possible, we work directly with farmers, cooperatives, agricultural enterprises and local communities, allowing our guests to meet the people behind the food and agriculture of the places we visit.
-
Our itineraries combine agricultural and community visits with cultural experiences, wildlife, beautiful landscapes and time to enjoy the destination.
One day may take you from a farm or cooperative to a local market; another might involve a safari, a memorable meal or one of the destination's iconic experiences.
The agricultural component is an important part of our tours, but you certainly won't spend every day in paddocks. The idea is to experience the destination as a whole, its people, agriculture, culture and landscapes.
-
A moderate level of fitness is generally required. You should be comfortable walking regularly, spending time on your feet, managing uneven ground and getting in and out of vehicles.
Some individual experiences may be more physically demanding. For example, our Rwanda Agricultural Experience includes gorilla trekking, which can involve several hours of walking on hilly, uneven or muddy terrain.
The Tour Information for each departure will explain any particular fitness or mobility requirements so you can decide whether the experience is right for you.
-
We carefully select a mix of accommodation to suit each destination and itinerary. This may include boutique hotels, safari lodges and comfortable locally owned accommodation.
We look for places that offer comfort, character, a great location and a genuine sense of place rather than simply choosing familiar international hotels.
-
Absolutely. In fact, AgVenture Travel's small-group, women-only format is particularly well suited to women travelling on their own.
You will be joining a group of like-minded women and, because our groups are deliberately kept small, there are plenty of opportunities to get to know one another and enjoy the experience together.
Depending on the tour, you may choose a single room for an additional single supplement or, where available, request to share with another guest.
-
We will work with our local partners and suppliers to make reasonable efforts to accommodate individual requirements. However, because some tours visit rural and remote locations, not every requirement can always be accommodated.
If you're unsure whether a particular tour will suit your needs, please contact us before booking and we'll be happy to discuss it with you.
-
Our Terms & Conditions explain the cancellation conditions that apply if you need to cancel your booking, as well as the circumstances where AgVenture Travel may need to change or cancel a tour.
We recommend reading the Terms & Conditions carefully before making your booking and ensuring you have comprehensive travel insurance in place.
-
Comprehensive travel insurance is compulsory for all AgVenture Travel guests and must be purchased at the time of booking.
Passport, visa, vaccination and other entry requirements vary depending on the destination and your individual circumstances. Guests are responsible for ensuring they hold the appropriate documentation and meet the relevant entry and health requirements.
Booked guests receive a detailed destination travel guide to help them prepare for their tour, including practical information about travel, health, packing, money and what to expect along the way.
-
Definitely. If you'd like to arrive early or extend your stay after the tour, we're happy to assist with additional accommodation and provide information about your options.
